“A place for restorative growth,
resilience & connection.”

Our Mission

Valor Healing Farms has been created to serve the military community including veterans, active duty, caregivers, families and first responders.

Through farming internships, therapeutic horticulture, sustainable gardening, animal-assisted therapy and Nature, VHF programs are designed to benefit participants in meaningful and lasting ways. Our mission is to promote mind/body well-being, mental and emotional balance, self-care skills, life skills, career opportunities, stress reduction, recovery from PTSD, and suicide prevention.

We will be using several local farms in Ojai/Ventura County so that we can provide paid internships. Our long-term goal is to find a piece of land in the same area to be our permanent home. This space will be dedicated to providing participants with first-hand learning experiences that will show them:  1) how healing and growth can be found through connections to nature, gardening, animals, and healthy, nurturing experiences with other people; and, 2) how they can bring those therapeutic activities into their own lives. All programs are at no cost to the participant.

Services offered at no cost to veterans, active duty, caregivers, and first responders.

VHF greatly appreciates the continued support from The WOOD-CLAEYSSENS Foundation.

Goal

Cultivating change and transforming lives through healthy mindfulness connections with self, others and nature.

Vision

Our vision is to promote health and well-being in our clients in broad and comprehensive ways. Our programs provide education, support, and inspiration for clients to recognize their own potentials for healing, growth, health and well-being. Many positive, life-changing benefits naturally follow: recovery from past trauma; stronger feelings of self-esteem and self-worth; stronger resilience; reassessment of personal values and beliefs to include greater self-care, life-skills and positive opportunities in life. This enhanced awareness will also lead to more ability to have healthy, rewarding connections with self and others. To achieve all this we will involve clients in first-hand experiences with horticulture, sustainable gardening, farming internships, animal-assisted therapy and therapeutic experiences with our staff.
